CYMA

a swell; a wave; a curve; unfurling of young cabbage leaf

CYMA is an interdisciplinary poetry project, and was awarded a Developing Your Creative Practice grant by Arts Council England to support its research and writing during 2023.

CYMA explores ideas of place, sound and communication. It is inspired by a local coastal site, its Cold War history and possible climate futures, through a neurodivergent/ disability lens.

The project challenged me to develop new research and writing methods, including site-specific practices and making and writing from field recordings. I worked with other creatives to build my skills in presenting the work on the page, on stage, and online.

Flo Reynolds undertakes embodied research as part of the CYMA project. They are a white person with long brown hair, wearing a white shirt and two long hare's ears on a headband. They are kneeling next to a rusted metal pole and can be seen only partially through a mix of summer wildflowers.
